Looking for something a little different to send this festive season? I’m very excited to share with you my new collection of handmade Christmas cards now available on Etsy and www.artworksbychar.com — featuring original pen and watercolour illustrations that celebrate the cosy, comical side of Christmas.
It can feel a bit weird as an artist to pretend it’s Christmas in Summer and without the Christmas tunes banging it’s tricky to get in the mood (yes I’m superstitious) but I had a lot of fun creating some vibrant, new scenes brimming with character, humour and festive joy.
Each card is designed to bring a smile - from anthropomorphic festive birds in woolly scarves, to a majestic barn owl flying over Lewes Castle and the South Downs. There’s also a mischievous pet series that captures the chaos every animal lover knows too well: dogs in the wrapping paper, sliding turkeys and cats eyeing up the red wine or nonchalantly dipping a tail in the gravy boat.
